The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority's report cited stagnant or falling wages among the lowest-income earners, a local jobless rate that remains above state and national averages, and a worsening lack of affordable housing.
...
According to the agency's latest biennial count, an estimated 44,300 people are living on the streets, in cars, in abandoned buildings or in shelters and government-funded "transitional housing" on any given night in Los Angeles County.
That tally, based on a census conducted in January, is up 12 percent, or nearly 5,000 people, across Los Angeles County, compared with numbers reported from the previous survey in 2013.
The same percentage increase was recorded within the city of Los Angeles proper, home to a notorious downtown Skid Row district that ranks among the greatest concentrations of homeless in the United States. The city alone accounted for more than a third of the county's total.
The number of families with children included in the overall count also rose 12 percent from 2013.
As in past years, many of the homeless suffered from substance abuse, mental illness or physical disabilities. The number who were victims of domestic violence increased substantially since 2013, along with the number considered chronically homeless.

12% is a very large increase! Why is no one else trumpeting this data? Oh, wait, because the stagnation was aided and abetted by democrat politicians and lobbyists, maybe?
It’s beginning to look a lot like Baltimore.
Homelessness is only an issue when a Republican is in the White House.

Bingo.
Just economic decay.
.
Impossible. The exempt Hussein is in charge. You'll find this stat in his new liebarry.
“Los Angeles homelessness rises 12 percent amid slow economic recovery”
In the wake of rising homelessness they have the nerve to use the term “economic recovery” at the same time?
Reagan’s fault.
That reminds me of the title of a chapter in Bernie Goldberg’s book “Bias”. I believe its called “How Bill Clinton cured Homelessness”. Given that, homelessness should not have even been an issue with The One in the White House.
And six and a half years of middle class economic deterioration is only called “slow economic recovery” when a Democrat has been President for the past six and a half years.
The U.S. Government spends more more money aiding and abetting tens of millions of illegal aliens than is spent on our military veterans and the American homeless.
Hope and Change.
Sucks.
The problem is that LA is overrun with illegals and more arrive every day. The mayor invited them, as I recall from an article a few months ago.
Been going on for awhile. Here’s an article from 10 months ago:
L.A. MAYOR GARCETTI WELCOMES ILLEGAL ALIENS, UPSETS HOMELESS ACTIVISTS

Homeless AND thirsty!
The “recovery” is a fraud.
um.. news flash, THERE IS NO RECOVERY, and never was one!
It’s all a pack of lies to give Obama cover.
