I haven’t seen an FR post, but the online news services have the news. Another one, over 7. Nepal really is getting hit hard.

The Himalayas are unimaginably huge and vast in extent; let’s hope these guys will be found in a healthy condition.

What are US Marines doing running rescue missions in Nepal anyway?
US Marines aren’t Red Cross or UN Emergency Relief.

What are US Marines doing running rescue missions in Nepal anyway? We Marines have always done rescue and humanitarian efforts. When we were in Somalia, we were conducting food supply and water filtration efforts. After the Corps left, the Army took over and Blackhawk down happened.

The Marines do, and have always done, far more with far less that you could ever imagine.

We also helped in Pakistan after the 2005 Kashmir earthquake. Marines are always out on sea deployments to be close to anywhere that disaster strikes or if some enemy needs a quick harsh whipping. Look up on google or whatever: Marine Expeditionary Unit.

I hate this. Our Marines are too precious to put them into scenarios like this. As much as my heart hurts for the poor Nepalese, figure out a way to help them w/o jeopardizing the finest war fighting organization in the world.
