I teach as an adjunct at Catholic University Law School. When the new law school building was completed in the Nineties, there was some opposition to the traditional placing of a crucifix in every classroom. One of my Jewish friends on the faculty led the opposition to the crucifixes. He was a good man, but I was baffled by his position. If you don't want to attend or teach at a CATHOLIC school, go elsewhere.
The crucifixes finally went up, but not without delay.
The crucifixes finally went up, but not without delay. They call it "Catholic University of America". With a name like that, I bloody well better be able to walk around on campus and know it's a Roman Catholic university, even without reading the signs. It should be exuding "Catholic" from its every pore.
