Pakistanis Knew Where Bin Laden Was Hiding All Along, Say US Sources
NBC News ^ | 05/11/2015 | MATTHEW COLE, RICHARD ESPOSITO, ROBERT WINDREM AND ANDREA MITCHELL

Posted on 05/11/2015 3:14:59 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Two intelligence sources tell NBC News that the year before the U.S. raid that killed Osama bin Laden, a "walk in" asset from Pakistani intelligence told the CIA where the most wanted man in the world was hiding - and these two sources plus a third say that the Pakistani government knew where bin Laden was hiding all along.

The U.S. government has always characterized the heroic raid by Seal Team Six that killed bin Laden as a unilateral U.S. operation, and has maintained that the CIA found him by tracking couriers to his walled complex in Abbottabad, Pakistan.

The new revelations do not necessarily cast doubt on the overall narrative that the White House began circulating within hours of the May 2011 operation. The official story about how bin Laden was found was constructed in a way that protected the identity and existence of the asset, who also knew who inside the Pakistani government was aware of the Pakistani intelligence agency's operation to hide bin Laden, according to a special operations officer with prior knowledge of the bin Laden mission. The official story focused on a long hunt for bin Laden's presumed courier, Ahmed al-Kuwaiti.

While NBC News has long been pursuing leads about a "walk in" and about what Pakistani intelligence knew, both assertions were made public in a London Review of Books article by investigative reporter Seymour Hersh. Hersh's story, published over the weekend, raises numerous questions about the White House account of the SEAL operation. It has been strongly disputed both on and off the record by the Obama administration and current and former national security officials.

If the Pakis were on board why risk the stealth choppers? I could totally see a factional split in the Paki government, but still it seems an odd explanation.

Seymour Hersh is a left-wing BS artist who makes up narratives from conveniently confidential sources. None of his allegations can be fact-checked.

War should have been declared on Pakistan and Saudi Arabia when Bush addressed a joint session of Congress on September 16, 2001.

The diversions of Afghanistan and Iraq were a colossal waste, while the main enemy still sleeps soundly in their beds.

Of course their were people in the Government/Army who knew where he was. That’s why it had to be kept quiet - so they wouldn’t tip him.

The Pakis were NOT "on board". We got the info from a "walk in", a defector from Paki intelligence who likely wanted the reward for Osama.

The Paki government is in league with the jihadis. Why else would Osama have been in a safe house just a few blocks away from their military academy, in a city where lots of senior military had their homes? The security presence in that city must be higher than anywhere else.

Why be THERE, unless you were confident that Paki intelligence was there to PROTECT you, rather than FIND you?

Of course they did. And the only reason Obammy offed him was to distract from the building exposure of his "birth certificate" fraud.

It is extremely naive to think Paki’s were on board with Osama capture. Why? because Osama was the golden goose to extract Billion every year in foreign aid from the gullible Americans.

The Paki’s are still laughing their heads off on how easy it is to extract foreign aid from the Americans.

I'm sure Bin Laden is dead, otherwise we would have long since heard from him.

Though I wouldn't believe anything that the enemy islamist in the White House would say, nor am I apt to believe Seymour Hirsch who also has a distinctly anti-American bent. And, to the best of my knowledge, no one has corroborated Robert O'Neil's story to date, some of who possibly could have, having been killed in that 2011 Chinook shoot-down.

Not producing the body of that islamist dog means anything could have happened to him, including his being buried in some Tora Bora cave back in late 2001.

Until it's demonstrated, a pox on all their houses.

Hersh also accused the military of having its officer corps filled with Christian fundamentalists wanting a 10th Crusade. So YMMV.
