There’s much talk about free speech, and the right to it. Now comes a major book explaining who and what is eroding this most basic tenet. Out Monday, it’s “The Silencing: How the Left is Killing Free Speech” by Kirsten Powers, a lifelong liberal and daughter of a feminist who converted to Christianity as an adult and is now a frequent contributor to Fox News.

She points out that leftist methodology is to simply shut down public debate with the help of a compliant liberal news media and a secular culture — while squawking about tolerance and values.

“It’s easier for the illiberal left to demonize their opponents and sanctify themselves as higher moral beings that treat differences of opinions respectfully,” Ms. Powers says, noting that the left reserves a “special strain of strident wrath” for Christians...

One way they’re killing free speech is to give protection - rhetorical, legal, and physical - to surrogates who know how to use violence to silence opponents.

Liberals are schizophrenic. They “call for a dialogue” on a topic and then screech when someone offers an opinion. “You’ve never been poor” or “You’re not black” or “You’re a man”, so you don’t get to have an opinion!

So when they say “dialogue” they really mean “we want to lecture you” and if you don’t wholly agree with Professor Lib’s diatribe you are racist/sexist/homophobic/what-ever-else-ist and should be sent to a reeducation camp.

I just watched Judge Jeanine's opening from last night - was at a party and couldn't view it last night.

This incident has laid out the truth for anyone with eyes to see it with respect to the so-called Religion of Peace. Pamela Geller has done a great service to the preservation of Western Civilization. The so-called conservative who castigate her for "stupid" statements, while giving lip service to her right to say them are noting but appeasers . I wonder what today's society would say about someone like Patrick Henry? I fear he would not be well received.

Claiming irrationality in the face of debate may be a rational way to end the debate, if you have no other argument but preventing your temper tantrum.
