Yeah Jeb, people could be persuaded to send illegals home, to make a valid proof of citizenship necessary for voting, to build a wall to keep illegals out, and to go after employers who keep the illegals coming. People could be persuaded to stop spending money on subsidized labor, education, housing, health care and food for aliens. We can’t be persuaded to vote for you Jeb. All you do is piss us off with your GOPe liberalism.
I’m not persuaded, and I don’t know even one person of any ethnicity who is-whose koolaid is Jeb drinking this time?
My idea on immigration in general is that we should be able to do whatever we need to do. I for one, don’t want to see us overpopulated and I’d approach it from that angle. Maybe not the popular tact for others on the right though.
But why let more people we don’t really need in? Legal or illegal, if that’s what we decide. At one time it made sense to grow our population a fast as we could and expand settled areas. It sure doesn’t look like we need to keep that us with the drought issues we’re now having.
Same with making anyone born here a citizen. I don’t think that makes a lot of sense anymore. Let the parents become legal citizens first.

Problem is Jeb, if they are here they will be registered and if they are registered they will be voting for your opponent. This is suicide by good intentions.
He doesn’t know any more about economics than his dad.
The only reason these illegal immigrants have jobs in the U.S. is that the employers are not suffering the full costs of employing them. They’re not taking “jobs Americans won’t do”. They’re taking jobs that employers can’t afford to pay Americans to do.
Make them legal, and they immediately lose those jobs, and they’ll be forced to government programs to live, while a whole new batch of illegals will have to be imported to replace them. It’s like slave trade.
I don’t give full blame to the illegal immigrants. Their homes are crap holes. But as long as the U.S. has such a demand for illegal workers, somebody is going to fill that demand.
IMHO, to fix the problem, first, cut out ALL government aid for illegal aliens. That aid should be for citizens ONLY. I’m sorry about their kids, but that’s not my responsibility.
Second, crack down on those who employ these people. Without the demand, there’s no supply.
Third, and simultaneously with the second, simplify labor laws. Reduce the minimum wage, cut out unneeded regulation, and make it easier to hire Americans.
Border security will be a simple matter once the impetus for crossing it is gone.

Memo to Jeb Bush: You cannot outflank Herself, Madame Benghazi, the Cold & Joyless, on immigration “reform”.
The greatest, and most effective reform of immigration policy would be to enforce the laws now on the books, particularly those securing the borders and ports, and including most pointedly, the persons here either without visa of any kind, or those who have deliberately overstayed their visas.
Those who are here for “compassionate” reason should still be held in detention camps far from any major urban center, until their status is fully clarified and vetted. If, within a reasonable span of time, this cannot be done, then the subject is returned to country of origin.
Think of it as a huge board game. Or video game, if that is more to your understanding. With rewards for playing within the rules, but more importantly, with commensurate penalties for non-compliance.
