The windows are still boarded up, the car windshields are still smashed in, and the tempers are still boiling over.
One week after the May Day riots left Broadway Auto Row in Oakland an avenue of broken glass and dented metal, the proprietors who are still wondering why they were targeted are still awaiting some help from somebody.

One of the reasons (of course there are more) for violence against stores (including car dealers) is resentment of the “haves” by the “have nots.” It matters not a whit that most of the “haves” have earned their possessions (or in the case of proprietors, inventory), it’s enough that they possess what the ‘have nots” don’t have. The same mentality applies against individuals. It’s the reason all four tires were slashed on my near-new Camry.
Oakland is LOST! Time to withdraw...
As they have in many places, businesses will eventually boycott black areas completely. Of course that will push rioters into other geography.
The reason America tolerates such massive black crime is because most of it is committed against their own.
That's their logic. It's why they build corrugated tin shack cities.
There’s another piece somewhere that says Oakland PD is setting a new standard after having the Feds bust their nuts for years.
Tell that to all the businesses that get hammered regularly..

There are ways for businesses to remain in inner city neighborhoods. It’s not relying in the local police for protection.

I have zero sympathy for them... entrepreneurs who want to set up a business in an urban war zone are asking for trouble.
Its like expecting your business to get burned down. Only fools rush in where angels fear to thread. Oakland is NOT a study in the marvels of urban revival.
No wonder its already a write off.
Yup. To put it bluntly, black leadership only cares about blacks when they die at the hands of white cops.
Blacks dying at the hands of blacks - well that’s just the nature of life in urban America.
Maybe the proprietors should be asking themselves why they are doing business in Oakland.
