Let’s see, polls skewed in favor of labour in Great Britton. They’ve been telling us for weeks that the Labour party was up big. I guess pushing the rope doesn’t work as well across the pond as it does here.

I love the smell of napalmed leftists in the morning.

You are a poet, and you put your finger on what made the Vietnamese War worthwhile: Our guys killed about 2,000,000 Communist cadres in the field from 1962 to 1975. Uncle Ho's little red rag never flew over Singapore and Bangkok.

Oh, and btw: The Vietnamese War was basically a Sino-Soviet campaign against the Malacca Straits, and cutting the sea lanes in two: west of Java and east of Java. But oops. the Indonesian colonels killed 800,000 PKI cadre, busting up the southern jaw of the Communist pincers, and our guys killed even more in the Nam, result being freedom of the seas as the baseline that China now wants to violate solo by asserting ownership of the South China Sea (which we will have to break by shedding lots of Chinese blood, which is OK with the politburo).

So let things commence: we have the high ground, let us give battle before the Chinese pass us in thermonuclear delivery systems (thanks to Bill Clinton and Barky Obama -- oh, did you know we're down to 2500 nukes and dropping fast? Looks like Barky wants to go to zero, before he leaves office!)

You know you are the only person I have seen on this forum other than myself that has pointed out the massive game changer that was the 1965 purge of the Communists in Indonesia.

I would go so far as to say if the US had been paying proper attention to what had just happened in Indonesia in 1965/66 they would never have got so fully involved in the Vietnam war.

The whole Domino Theory was that all the dominoes would fall until the last big prize at the end, the only domino that mattered, Indonesia, with its vast mineral wealth, strategic sea lanes, huge population and proximity to Australia. But once the quiet man Suharto wiped out the Commies (and in fairness the Brits had stabilized Malaysia and Singapore) SE Asia was secure and it didn’t matter a tinker’s curse what happened to IndoChina (which went red eventually and made no difference).

The stunning victory inflicted by Suharto on the Communists has never been truly appreciated by anyone other than the hard left who never forgave him and demonised him ever since. To the extent that when he died even posters here on FreeRepublic were hostile to his memory.

..... he thought it was transferable.

Which is a) interessting and b) not the first time Stateside libruls/Progs have dabbled internationally in esp. Israel and Argentina. In the latter case, Klinton and his minion Serpent Head sent "Forehead" Begala and other Klintoon campaigners down to B.A. to help elect Jose Menem.

The campaign was a success for Klintoon and a disaster for the Argentines, who saw Menem bail out of the Casa Rosada after he collapsed the Argentine economy and credit with his lefty programs; and in fact, he simply left the presidential palace by helicopter as if it were the fall of Saigon, and left his countrymen holding their guts in their hands. Smooth move, Ex-Lax.

The interesting part is that old Slick has displayed, and Obama has emulated, an interest in trying to form an international socialist superparty that would presumably "take over" world politics and give us Orwell's Ingsoc at the supranational level.

The Argentine failure is a warning about what such remote and ideological government would be like for all countries unfortunate enough to fall for the conceit of "professional" government by "expert" mandarins like the Clintons and Menem, who was an Argentine version of the American "best and brightest".

Thanks for the kind words. The RVN failed to overcome their Communist cadre because the recruits enjoyed sanctuary in the Communist North until they were fully armed and trained, and ready to reinfiltrate their native country by battalions as a powerful enemy army.
