Von Essen presided over New York’s Bravest on Sept. 11, 2001 — the day terrorists murdered nearly 3,000 innocents, including 343 valiant souls under his command.
“I already gave this city my husband. I’m not going to give it my son,’’ a woman who lost her firefighter husband on 9/11, and whose son followed in his dad’s footsteps by joining the Fire Department, told me.
She asked to remain anonymous so as not to damage her son’s career.

Just saw Letterman show (only thing free on recent airline flight) and he was praising DeBlasio. Hadn’t seen Letterman in years (really never watch) and was amazed how liberal he was in almost every comment.
I seem to recall the gloating over his huge election margin!!

Well the thing about NYC is that the people there are led around like cattle with a ring through their nose, they do absolutely anything the press tells them to do. The press promoted Duh Blasio more than anybody so th efix was in from the start. They also only promoted candidates that they knew DeBlasio could beat like the pervert Anthony “wanker” Weiner, and a lesbian Christine Quinn who when it comes to far leftists makes Duh Blasio look conservative by comparison. There was one Republican running Joe Llota that the press all but ignored. Then the celebrities came out like hardcore communists Susan Sarandon, Harry Belafonte who endorsed the communist Duh Blasio, then asshole I mean Alec Baldwin then Sarah Jessica Horseface all endorsed him while the press increased their promotion of Duh Blasio. So basically the fix was in and naturally being that the people of NYC do whatever the press tells them to do, he won the election by a landslide. I grew up in NYC and moved 4 years ago, I couldn’t take it anymore. It is THE capital of idiocy, it really is. Some of the dumbest human beings I’ve ever met in my life live in that city. That’s why the Clintons and Obama went there more than any other city for fundraisers, the people there are absolutely brain dead and would give money to NAMBLA if they thought it would get them a photo-op with a celebrity. Celebrities and the press, and the people in NYC turn in programmable zombies.
Wow! I never really wanted to visit NYC and your post just cemented that thought.
What a shame and to think when Glenn Frey sung the 1985 hit song “you belong to the city”, the city was a craphole but it had a life, and a culture unlike the uber left hipster culture that has taken it over.
