Robert Redford is sounding an environmental alarm, saying the planet is changing and that "our opportunities are shrinking."

Redford spoke during a one-on-one session with Santa Fe Mayor Javier Gonzales on Tuesday that packed a performing arts center in Santa Fe, The New Mexican of Santa Fe reported (http://bit.ly/1cmrI4Z ).

The 78-year-old actor and director is no stranger to Santa Fe; he owns a home in the city. During the session, the topics included the arts, Sundance Film Festival, activism and his interest and involvement in environmental issues.

No doubt dr. redford (world renowned climatologist) walked from his 200 sq/ft all natural material shack in Utah in his bare feet all the way to Santa Fe and his ramshackle 150 sq/ft all natural material shed that he owns there. No?

Show me a young man who is not a liberal, and I’ll show you a man without a heart. Show me an old man who IS a liberal and I’ll show you a man without a brain. Apparently His name is Robert Redford.

“the planet is changing “

Yeah, North America is getting warmer every day but in a few months it will start getting colder.

ROBERT REDFORD
This is perfect. Why didn't we think
of it sooner? This town still has some
charm left, not the mess we turned Park
City into.

PHYLLIS
Forgive me for being observant, but,
won't we just end up doing the same
thing to this town?

ROBERT REDFORD
Yes. And the town after, and the town
after that. Like termites, we will move
this film festival from town to town
until we have used it up. And then move
on, until every quiet mountain town
is like Los Angeles.

PHYLLIS
Why? Why would we do such a thing?

ROBERT REDFORD
Because we have to live in L.A. And
if we can't live in quiet, simple, peaceful
mountain towns, then nobody will! Waitwaitwait.
Zoom in to a close-up of my face when
I do that. Ready? Then NOBODY will!
That's it.

I have a feeling that Redford has a much bigger “carbon footprint” than you and I combined. Or bigger than 100 people combined. These wealthy liberal do gooders are far more polluting than the rest of us. All in pursuit of saving the planet and all that.

Off topic, but can someone explain the idea of carbon credits? I don’t get it. It sounds to me that as long as you buy carbon credits, you can still belch out all the offending carbon and pollution you did previously. Rather than reducing your polluting output. Am I right in understanding this?? As long as you buy carbon credits you can still do whatever the heck you want???

The Sundance Resort. How do people get there? Yes, that’s right, by using their dreaded automobile and polluting the pristine mountain air.

When the lifts are solar powered, when you can only get there by horseback, when no fossil fuels are consumed, then you can lecture us. Until then - STFU.

It’s pathetic to see washed-up actors, politicians and professors clamoring for attention by rerunning Chicken Little’s age old mantra, “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” They need to worry about the Grim Reaper, their most imminent danger.

That's true -- the planet is always changing ... but this sounds so much better to self-promoted intellectuals than "the Erf is doomed!"

And Man has not a damn thing to do with it. Man is a fart in a windstorm when it comes to affecting the planet.

Well, we’ve got some snow flurries here in Reno this a.m. Obviously caused by glow-bull changing.

So the fossil actor doesn’t like fossil fuel? What did he do in his 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s? Spend them riding bicycles? I bet he’s taken a number of private jets in his lifetime, and flown first class a lot. He spent his life relying on “traditional” energy and now that he is wealthy and old and can afford “alternative” energy nonsense, he is demanding that we all pay the price.

And I love how these Hollywood Hypocrites like Redford plant a 20,000 square foot house in the middle of a natural setting — which was pristine before they did it— and think they are protecting the environment. If he was a real “environmentalist,” he would be living in a 1,000 square foot apartment in the city.

Gee whiz Bob. The planet is changing? You mean we don't live on an unmoving, static Big Blue Marble?

Whodathunkit?

carbon credits - analogous to the old practice of purchasing indulgences from the medieval Church. And just as corrupt.

But that comparison is lost on Climate Scientologists.

Is he still alive?

More importantly, is he still relevant?

I suspect he, Barbra Streisand, and Michael Moore sit around late at night trying to figure out how to get some press coverage via inane statements.

Then Moore suggests a few hands of strip poker, and the other two run screaming from the house.
