You realize if cops change tactics the desired goal is to force ccw people to do so as well.

>> “How close can somebody get to me before I’m justified in using deadly force?”

Answer: It depends upon their color. If they are swarthy (or darker), then they must actually be penetrating you with a knife/bullet/pipe/their Johnson/whatever before you are justified in using force to defend yourself.

If they’re white, they must be within range of a police sniper rifle, or closer, and you may then have your way with them.

Ok, so the “compassionate” approach will be to pass a law saying that only criminals have the right to use force. After all, they’re the ones so upset that they feel the need to use force. They can’t help themselves. Police have disciplines and self-control. Why give them the option of force? Policemen have jobs and don’t have as much to be upset about as the mental illness or downright evil that drives criminals to use force. Got that? That’s the “progressive” way to control crime, terrorism, you name it.

Well I would have to say this article is spot on. Law enforcement is so far off track it's hard to imagine it could be corrected before a serious meltdown of which we find ourselves in the opening chapters as we speak.

The police have been trained to escalate nearly every encounter when they should be doing the opposite. Law enforcement today has absolutely zero common sense unless of course the goal is a soviet style police state. The mind set is total control and domination where everyone and everything is seen as a threat. They have completely forgotten that the citizens are the boss, not the other way around.

Every solution in this article is basic common sense that has been known to legitimate law enforcement since the days of Wyatt Earp, it's not some new way of thinking.

I'm glad to see people are starting to figure this out.

Bill Clinton bragged about “putting 100,000 cops on the street” (and teachers, etc. but is was all typical left wing BS, the state/locals had to foot the bill after only 3 years and most didn’t participate).

I predict, at this rate, there will be 100,000 cops quitting these useless forces in lib cities. Let the liberals live with the consequences of their actions.

And they better hope they don’t become refugees and move to my state of TN, we won’t put up with their destruction here.

As an example, when confronting a drugged out violent person, the police should invite them to a drum circle.

I survived an anti-Police cultural nightmare in the 60’s and 70’s.

Every form of violent crime exploded.

It took Reagan and Rudy Giuliani almost two decades to put out the fire.

Now I have to live through another one in my old age?

Thanks, Obama. Thanks, Libertarians.

It is not distance, nor weapon, nor size. It is ABILITY and INTENT. Once a person has demonstrated both, then deadly force is a legal option.

This is interesting. The change was made in the 1980’s, and recently it seems that the number of officer-involved shootings has gone up... as the officers who were trained under the old rules have retired and been replaced with those who were trained under the new rules. As the older officers retire, there is a reduction in modeling of de-escalation as well.

The link above was all I could find quickly, but what it shows goes along with the time frame.
