A feisty Jeb Bush gave a full-throated defense of his immigration stance in front of a Washington audience on Thursday, laying out the economic case that reforms he champions could return the nation to prosperity.
Bush took a swipe at Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a likely opponent against Bush for the Republican presidential nomination next year, for saying that he favors limiting legal immigration to the U.S. as a means of preserving jobs in the nation for current citizens.
I dont think its a zero-sum game, the former Florida goveror said in a question-and-answer session at the National Review Ideas Summit. I think if we start thinking its a zero-sum game, well start playing the game President Obama plays, and its just the wrong approach." Bush argued that immigration reform could bring about an influx of new talent that would keep the U.S. in position to compete with foreign nations that have made gains in technology and other sectors.
He warned that failure to reform the immigration system could put the U.S. in the same position as Japan and some European countries with declining populations.
If you want to grow at 4 percent per year instead of 2 percent per year, you need younger, more dynamic people inside of our economy that are productive, he said.

[Im right about this]
No, you’re left about this.
Well Jebby if you’re right why not bring another 1,000,000,000 people from third world countries in and make everything perfect.
FUJB!
But we don't need "younger, more dynamic people" in our economy who will vote knee-jerk liberal Democrat and who will not assimilate.
Well at least he can stand up against criticism on an issue. Too bad it must be this issue.
He is not quite as low as John McCain and Mitt Romney were on my list, but I won’t vote for him either. He is seriously close to being that low. Not only do I not agree with him on several important issues, I do not find him likable. Plus it would be ridiculous to elect yet another squishy Bush.
If Jeb was the only damn guy running for the white house I’d not cast a vote for him.
Why in sam hell is our government bent on putting foreigners, foreign interest before that of it’s own citizens. Man that pisses me off.
America first...American workers first.
You are too slow to post Grasshopper.
I’ll write-in Mickey Mouse before I’d vote for Jebbie.
If you want to grow at 4 percent per year instead of 2 percent per year, you need younger, more dynamic people inside of our economy that are productive,
Jeb, you idiot, if these people are more dynamic and productive than Americans, why haven’t they set the world on fire where they reside now? Why are their nations known as “third world”?
If Jeb’s wife cries because she misses Mexico - Jeb should just buy the damn country - - NOT bring all the Mexican here. Not that his wife leads him around by the nose or anything...
Jebthrow Bush for Double-NOT President
