As I understand it the mayor of Cleveland said that "the additional proposed gun control laws would not help to stop crime or make citizens safer".

He further stated that "the city should pass these new law (regulations) even though they would not help".

It must be some kind of liberal thing

Reminds me of something from Atlas Shrugged about passing enough laws to be able to control innocent people...
