When Maersk chose a flag of convenience, they chose to have the Marshall Islands navy protect their ship. If you want the United States Navy to protect your ship, then it needs to fly the American flag.
You are probably right, but a normal POTUS would not shirk everything like this one does.
I don’t understand how a Danish Company owned ship, managed by Singapore/German company, gets US Naval Protection because they chose Marshall Islands.
Could every commercial ship in the world choose the Marshall Islands for flagging and that would obligate the US Navy?
