In Puerto Rico, Jeb Bush Says He Lives ‘the Immigrant Experience’

Jeb Bush visited Puerto Rico on Tuesday and spoke in personal terms about “the power of the immigrant experience” as he challenged his party to be more respectful of Latino communities if it ever hopes to win back their votes.

Latinos who are disillusioned with President Obama are willing to listen to Republicans like himself, Mr. Bush said at a campaign appearance at the Universidad Metropolitana. “But the fact is,” he added, “we’ve got to give that message, and we haven’t campaigned in communities to show respect and to listen.”

“This is not crazy talk,” Mr. Bush, the former Florida governor, went on. “This is just human nature. If you show respect for people and you have a message that gives them some hope that life can be better, they’re more open to voting for you.”

Speaking in both Spanish and English during a question-and-answer session at the university, Mr. Bush drew on his own story. “Trust me,” he said. “I know the power of the immigrant experience because I live it each and every day. I know the immigrant experience because I married a beautiful girl from Mexico. My children are bicultural and bilingual.”

Just simply wanting to carry out the wishes of his wealthy corporate masters who keep most (if not all) of their cash and wealth far away from American taxes and laws and who want the cheap labour and also who want the US taxpayer as their unlimited credit card and who could ultimately care less about the United States as a real country. Ho hum..

Jeb sounds like a victim.

I guess being born into wealth and power isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

As far as I’m concerned Bush can remain living the “Immigrant Experience. “ In fact he should take up permanent residence in Cuba.

“as he challenged his party to be more respectful of Latino communities if it ever hopes to win back their votes.”

Well Jeb, you need to be more respectful of American communities if you ever hope to win my vote. And, Jeb, you pandering idiot, you will never win my vote. I suggest you emigrate to some Latin country and run for office if their plight is such a burden to you.

After he lives the ‘immigrant experience’ he should try living the ‘citizen experience’ and the ‘illegal alien’ experience to be fully well rounded.

Why is he in Puerto Rico talking about the immigrant experience?? Puerto Rico doesn’t vote in pres. Elections. And Puerto Ricans are not immigrants as such, they are American citizens of an American possession.

Is he condescending in implying that because Puerto Ricans are Hispanic, then they are in favor of liberal handling of illegal aliens on the mainland? How does this even make any sense???

It’s probably easier to understand the illegal experience when your family has really big bucks and your father has been an oilman, Congressman, CIA chief, VP of the United States and President of the United States and your brother has been a Texas Governor and the President of the United States and you, yourself have been the Governor of Florida. This background should really give you personal experience in this matter.

Hey Jeb, my great-great grandfather lived the immigrant experience as a ship’s carpenter for the Hudson’s Bay Company, coming to Canada in about 1850 and then carving out a farm in the Grey Highlands region near Lake Huron. As a strict Presbyterian from the Orkney Islands, I bet he’d really sympathize with your story (major sarc).
