The White Sox game against the Orioles at Camden Yards was postponed for the second straight night due to security concerns amid the violent protests that broke out in the city’s streets.

The Orioles said the decision was made in conjunction with Major League Baseball and local and state officials. There was no immediate word about the makeup dates for the games or the status of Wednesday night’s game at Camden Yards.

I’d rather watch an enthusiastic riot instead of a stuffy old baseball game.

April 29 Chicago White Sox @ Baltimore
April 30 off
May 1 Tampa @ Baltimore
May 2 Tampa @ Baltimore
May 3 Tampa @ Baltimore
May 5 Baltimore @ NY Mets

I wonder when they will play before they leave town.

Maybe they could drag out the film of Disco Sucks Night from Cleveland c.1979. That way you get both your riot and your baseball.

I just read a little about forfeitures in the MLB. It seems from that brief reading the rule is that if play has to be stopped because unruly fans can’t be brought under control, the home team would have to forfeit. It didn’t seem that public safety outside the control of the franchise would cause a forfeiture.

Why would they not play in the afternoon (or would that make too much sense)?

The White Sox had to forfeit after Disco Demolition, Baltimore should have to forfeit these games.

Disco Sucks Night was in Chicago.
Cleveland had a riot over ten-cent beer.

Heck the White Sox should have felt right at home, they probably were thinking, what’s the big deal, this is an average night in Chicago.

Did you know the Negro League invented night baseball? Their fans couldn’t afford to take off during the day because they WORKED. So the owners set up generators and set poles with lights and that’s how we got night baseball.
