From Wikipedia …

Douglas attended The Allen-Stevenson School in New York City, Eaglebrook School in Deerfield, Massachusetts, and The Choate Preparatory School (now Choate Rosemary Hall) in Wallingford, Connecticut. He received his B.A. in drama from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1968.

Nope … don’t see Rocket Scientist/Nuclear Scientist on that list.

Why can’t these people just shut up and entertain us?

Hey Mike!

Get the FACTS before you open your mouth!!!

The BIG nukes have all been retired (on our side).

Our focus has been on accuracy and reliability for a long time.

Our enemies continue to cheat on weapon reductions.

And while it may be true ... why are we listening to an actor weigh in?

As a pesky matter of fact individual US and Russian nuclear weapons yields are significantly smaller compared to the mega bombs of the cold war.

But, since he said it, it will be reported that the science is settled.

Our nukes are archaic and desperately need upgrading. The Peacemaker missiles were retired (for reasons I don’t understand) and we rely on Minuteman missiles last built when Nixon was president.

Meanwhile Russia keeps upgrading their missiles.

Douglas said there may be fewer nuclear weapons these days, but they are “more powerful and more sophisticated than ever before.” …

1) Fewer? Certainly many fewer in the US arsenal. Disarmament is treason.

2) More sophisticated? Generally, yes. That's a good thing. It makes them smaller, more efficient, cleaner, and more accurate.

3) More powerful? ABSOLUTELY FALSE. The man knows nothing. ALL of the big, multimegaton weapons have been retired. They're no longer needed. See #2.

He is a liberal non-practicing Jew in the mold of Babs Streisand. That should give you a clue.

Hey, leave Mr. Douglas alone.
He's an expert at all things nuclear.
He was in a movie about an emergency at a nuke plant.

dear mike,

Still living in that ‘china syndrome’ mindest, are you?

The anonymous ‘nuclear threat’ has been in existence, longer than you have been a marketable name, mike.

You, on the other hand, do YOUR COUNTRY, (from which you have amassed many dollars from tv and movie script recitals), a vast DISSERVICE, by attempting to stand in the viper’s pit at the “United Nations”, and represent ME.

You have earned all of your money, emulating any number of fictional characters, in bringing literary works to the small and big screen.

Once that show, that broadcast, that film, has been seen, and has become part of the syndication process, you become a non-entity. Since you make a wage speaking other person’s writings, what you say, think, or do, once away from any sort of stage, means nothing.

Michael Douglas is way behind the times. Obama got a Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 for solving the nuclear weapons problem.

NO, not true. Nukes are smaller now than they were in the 60's because targeting is better.

Read Cresson H. Kearny's book, "Nuclear War Survival Skills." No pecuniary interest here, just a long, longtime fan.

Right on. Biggest ever, and now totally obsolete. No need for a bomb that big with the targeting we have now. A point Kearny makes in the book I linked above.

When liberals say it facts are not required, only "feelings" count.

Then again you have to admire the man's feelings.
