---snip-- Unbelted detainees have been paralyzed and even killed by rough rides in police vans." It even has a name: "nickel rides," referring to cheap amusement park thrills.
Police brutality against prisoners being transported was addressed just six months ago in a plan released by Baltimore officials to reduce this misconduct. Department rules updated nine days before Gray's arrest clearly state that all detainees shall be strapped in by seat belts or "other authorized restraining devices" for their own safety after being arrested

don’t remember the burning down a town part.
It’s a youtube video of a white homeless guy being shot for no reason.
prepare for the worlds first SEATBELT RIOT!!!
White lives don’t matter, you know that.
It sounds like six cops broke his neck, but that’s no excuse for Baltimore thugs to do their thing.
Lawyers grasping at straws. There was something wrong with suspect when arrested. Was he on something? Already injured?
I rode an ambulance to the hospital during a kidney stone attack. The ride was shockingly rough. It bounced me around so much that I think it literally knocked the kidney stone loose.
I could not imagine a victim of a serious auto accident having to endure such a ride.
I messed up the link sorry FRiends.
According to the police, they stopped him initially because he started to run away, or bike away from them, so likely no, he wasn’t injured before contact with the police.
The police had to kind of drag him into the van. It was similar to Breaking Bad when Gonzo had to drag the unconscious No-Doz into the- automobile
Let the wheels of Justice grind this one out..
Better than burning the city down.
But considering the Mayor and mindset.
I heard they were really mad when they found out CVS had stopped selling cigarettes.
There must be some explanation for why he could not walk when arrested.
When black men get scared, their reaction is often to chatter. The cops probably thought he was being mouthy and decided to teach him a thing or two.
I’ve read that he was only slightly over a hundred pounds, so it wouldn’t have been that difficult to inflict serious injuries on him without really meaning to.
He may have been passively resisting at that point.
I see them holding him down. I see them dragging him to the van.
I never see him using his legs before going into the van. Is it possible he was injured before the cops got to him?
No doubt about it but “Nickel Rides” have been around for a long time. I hope that someone points out that these types of abuses probably have been going on in O’Malley’s Baltimore (and other urban areas controlled by Democrats) for years.
Is it possible he already had a spinal injury?
