Baltimore is burning down burning down.. burning down,, my dummy Mayor.
A delicate balancing act indeed. The only thing balanced was between looters and the cops. The mob was left free to pillage at will. Only after they had spent themselves were the police allowed to clean up the mess.
When my father, an honored minister, was murdered in Baltimore there was a tremendous outpouring of concern. We were clear that violence against the thugs who killed him would not be tolerated. In spite of the best efforts of some in the media to bring on a race riot there was not one single act of retribution. The police quickly apprehended the killers and they were brought to justice.
The mayor and many in the city worked through the next few years to support our family and the parishioners who had lost their best friend.
Leadership made all the difference. Today there is none.
