It’s not difficult for you and me, but, the main purpose of the article was to demonstrate that it IS difficult for GOP politicians. They have to renounce it in the Primary season to win the votes of Social Conservative to win the nomination only to lose in the General OR..... They can renounce it in the Primary Season and never make it to the General Election. It’s a “rock and a hard place” thing.
“. . . only to lose in the General”? That’s not an issue that lost Romney the 2012 election, except insofar as he was a flip-flopper on it.
