My son is a professional musician and I love the fact that bars ban smoking. He never smoked and after performing in a bar that does have smoking he would hardly be able to talk.
Just as a bar that permits smoking should not (and can not) force your son to perform there, neither should your son -- using the power of government -- force the bar owner to accomodate his (your son's) sensitivity.
I understand your concern about your son's condition, but if it's so severe that he is "hardly able to talk" after performing in a bar that permits smoking, the solution is to not perform there -- not to force the private business owner to accomodate your son's special needs. Your sentiment is an attack on liberty.
“that bars ban smoking.” There is the line. Fine if the bars ban it without govt intervention. I play in smoking and non smoking bars too. But I smoke myself so............... Let the clientele determine the success or failure. Just more camel nose under the tent.
I, too, love the fact that the G. is telling private property owners how to employ their private property to please your son. That’s the way it should be.
How will your son feel when there are less bars to perform in because there are less customers because they can’t come in and smoke? I’ve said this a hundred times before, bars are where people go to drink AND SMOKE!! It’s not a fitness club, it’s a bar. I’m sorry for your son’s maladies, but if it’s such a problem for him, have him open his own bar that is smoke free and perform there. Don’t force his employer to accomodate his special needs just so he can play.
“My son is a professional musician and I love the fact that bars ban smoking.”
Thank god! Now when he is dragged onto stage at the point of a gun he will end up being OK!
I routinely puff on cigars, and enjoy/prefer going to smoke-free bars.
