The UK and Commonwealth countries always have a minute or two minutes of silence on their Remembrance Day to remember the military dead of World War One, and by extension, other wars. It occurs on 11 a.m. on November 11 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month) which is when the armistice that ended WWI became effective.
