SALEM, Ore. (AP) - With Oregon Democrats moving forward on a bill to require background checks for private gun sales, the potential political backlash is becoming apparent.

Gun rights advocates last week filed petitions to recall three Democratic lawmakers who sponsored the legislation, and they say more could follow.

Lefties only like direct democracy when they are in charge.

GOOD! Recall any of the gun-grabberists we can!
They swear to uphold the Constitution and then they stab it, and us, in the back ...

The are State lawmakers. Yes; recall them. I wish to goodness we could recall national Congress persons and Senators. But, from what I understand, we can't.

The position of supporting Gun-Control needs to be politically fatal. I applaud the efforts of these people who are bringing these rats to a political reckoning.

Put the scare in em, and keep em scared.

If certain states had not been in such a hurry to ratify that dumb A$$ Seventeenth amendment we certainly would be able to recall Senators and believe me they are the ones so desperately in need of recall.

The 17th Amendment, which is far from "dumbass", has nothing to do with recall. You couldn't recall Senators before then. A legislature could ask them to step down if they didn't vote the way they instructed, but the Senators weren't under any obligation legally to do so until their term expired.

And as soon as Senators realized they could vote however they wanted and still serve their whole term they answered back “no”.

I sure as s*** wouldn’t want the IL legislature “instructing” Mark Kirk how to vote, he votes wrong enough as it is.

What is with these people that think these state legislators are paragons of liberty? Are they simple?

THEY ARE POLITICIANS LIKE ANY OTHER.

So, by your measure, the founding fathers - those who designed, debated and eventually wrought the ratification of the Constitution for the united States of America - were less than “paragons of liberty,” eh, genius?

Funny how all those today, who believe themselves smarter than the men who created this nation, are the first to bemoan how bad things have gotten - precisely because we have moved away from the design given us .... “A republic, if you can keep it.”

Ummmmmm NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Try rereading what I wrote. I am speaking of CURRENT STATE LEGISLATORS. I said nothing at all about the founders.

The Constitution was not a perfect document, it was created by men, not by God. That’s also why there was an amendment process to address additional issues that would come along in time. The selection of the Senators didn’t work out as intended, despite the teeth-gnashing denials of folks around here whom are very short on the history of why it failed and how much worse it would be if it were still in place today given the state political dynamics.

BTW, it was the founders, in their wisdom, who MADE THE CONSTITUTION AMENDABLE because they knew changes might be needed. And thank God they did.

Every US citizen has a God given right to own and use a gun responsibly. Frankly, it doesn’t matter whether politicians ban guns, the right to own a gun stands as ever. The only gun control I favor is fewer guns in the hands of politicians, their bodyguards and celebrities—now that is gun control I find useful.

One example on how to fight leftists if you live in a strong home rule state. Another way to fight leftists is to elect a pro-2nd amendment, Constitutional sheriff in your county. That gives you legal and armed muscle to attack crooked democrat police in rat cities and stop federal fascist goons from entering your neighborhoods.

Anyway, I’m against recall but as long as it exists, I hope we can use it Oregon like it was used in Colorado. Getting all 3 pigs would force a 15-15 tie.

Or not because only 1 of the 3 is a State Senator and the other 2 are Representatives. ;)

“Anyway, I’m against recall...”

Why would you be against recall? It’s one of the major tools that patriots can use in home rule states against thieving, lying leftists.

Recall is an invention of progressives. It can just as easily jam up good people. Scott Walker had to fight them off and they did temporarily take control of the WI State Senate.

We don’t need perpetual elections.

But as long as the laws are on the book, we should make use of them against the enemy.
