This is very welcome news for CHL gun owners in Texas. Most of us will continue to conceal carry (I will), but it won't be such a big deal if the firearm prints under a cover garment or is inadvertently uncovered. It will be convenient to have the open carry option for some circumstances such as while traveling seated in a car for long periods of time. Hooray!

We'll try again for Constitutional Carry in the next session. There were some shenanigans perpetrated to defeat it this time. I think CC will eventually be the law in Texas.

Don't know if you're aware, but we got a change in the CHL law in the previous session to prevent prosecution for "open carry" in just such a situation.

No more worry about "brandishment" charges on a windy day.
