Seems like they’re trying to turn the LCS into a replacement for the Fast Frigate. At the end of all this, the LCS multimillion modularity is going to end up irrelevant and the LCS will be an FF and it will be doing escort missions. It will of course be very fast and it will have shallow water capability. Still haven’t seen a viable anti-air capability proposal for LCS though...

Yup, the Navy has explicitly stated thats what they’re doing: truncating the LCS buy and modifying the fit as Perry replacement.

The existing LCSes will either be retrofitted to the new FF standard, or optimized for mine-hunting to replace the Avengers and the Ospreys.
