Actually the Current Occupant took his cues from Lolo Soetoro, his Indonesian stepfather, as he really had little contact with his supposed birth father. But it is known that Indonesian Muslims are Sunni, not Shi’ite, so this is a little in conflict with present-day behavior of the Current Occupant.

I’m not buying it. Obama wouldn’t have bowed so low to the King of Saudi Arabia in that famous picture from a few years ago if he were Shiite.
I don’t think Obama cares about the differences between the two sects or who is right spiritually. He’s not a spiritual guy. That would entail humility, which he completely lacks. He just wants to lead the world, and correct all the things he thinks are wrong with the US and everybody else. So, snubbing America’s allies and befriending Iran sounds cool to him.

No, you’re not wrong. But Shias are present in small numbers in a lot of otherwise Sunni places.
Obama’s more or less documented connections as an adult are to Vernon Jordan, Percy Sutton, Khalid al-Mansour and Prince Alwaleed. Does not seem to be a Shia trail there.
