VOTE AGAINST HIGHER TAXES MAY 12TH (Pulaski County, Arkansas)

VOTE AGAINST HIGHER TAXES MAY 12TH

The millage tax increase scheduled on May 12th of 5.6 mills would make the average overall millage rate in the Pulaski County Special School District from 40.7 to 46.3 mills. Arkansas already has a 6.5% sales tax, 40.2 cents a gallon tax on gas, a capital gains tax, & a high income tax. Arkansas is one of the highest taxes states in a nation that is over $18 trillion in debt! Yet the AR Education Commissioner Tony Wood, who approved this millage tax, still made over $231,000 in 2014.

This $12 million a year for 30 years tax plan would go to a $221 million school building and renovation program, that also includes 20.8 $million in state aid. PCSSD failed to maintain their buildings due to corruption that required the State of Arkansas to take them over in 2011. Superintendent Jerry Guess, who makes $215,000.00, is guilt-tripping taxpayers to pay for the mistakes of education bureaucrats.

The PCSSD is supporting Common Core, a big government/business education program that has many problems. Common Core supporters like the Gates Foundation could easily fund the building projects proposed by this tax increase, but they would rather tax Pulaski County citizens & other Arkansas taxpayers.

YOU can stop this tax increase!

We are in the midst of a school parcel tax “election” here in Contra Costa County, CA. The school district needs to have the voters “reauthorize” a parcel tax for another ten years! But here’s the kicker, in order to make sure it passes, they “exempt” all homeowners over 65, and they make it a “mail in your ballot” election.

Looks like another way to scam taxpayers. I made a facebook post, some flyers, a press release, & did some local media interviews to defeat other millage tax elections.

Great story! especially about the part where they mention the part where education bureaucrats spent over $200,000 against $4,000 & still lost!

“Looks like another way to scam taxpayers.”

Sure it is! We will not be once again a truly free country until we reign in our spending and substantially cut government employment. The problem is that we have too many “citizens” now who are hooked on the “free lunch.” But there will be an end to it all. I’m just uncertain as to what it will look like.

Didn’t a recent study reveal that Arkansas is like #2 in the nation on tax burden? I think it was sales tax (average local tax rate + state rate)...

And I think the Pulaski County Schools (and most recently, Little Rock School District) are perfect illustrations of why throwing money at schools solves nothing. Some of the highest per-pupil funded schools in the state... and all under state supervision in some way due to poor performance. Go figure.

But it is past time to put an end to these “special elections” to raise taxes... They are held at “off” times for a reason - the smaller the turnout, the easier it is to pass tax increases, especially property taxes.

Those who have little taxable property are more likely to show up...
