Another Politician Exploits America’s Love of Chipotle for Votes
New York Magazine ^ | April 13, 2015 | Jaime Fuller

Posted on 04/13/2015 7:34:45 PM PDT by nickcarraway

Hillary Clinton is on a road trip to Iowa, and like all people on a road trip eager to show the world that they are just a regular person, she stopped at Chipotle for lunch.

Clinton ordered a chicken burrito bowl with guacamole at an outpost of the fast-casual empire in Maumee, Ohio. "She got great food," the restaurant's manager told ABC News. "Everybody loves Chipotle.”

Twitter had many thoughts on this important development in the 2016 race. If anyone had any doubts about her candidacy, this would have dispelled them. Going to Chipotle is now a crucial part of the presidential nomination process, as Mitt Romney and Barack Obama proved in 2012.

Why do people seem more obsessed with politicians going to Chipotle than other fast-food places? Is it because it makes them seem strangely hip? Is it because it shows that they are as beholden to the guacamole and naturally raised meat as those they hope to lead? The world may never know. But there's no doubt that people seem to be as excited about Clinton's burrito craving as the guy who stood next to Mitt Romney during his Chipotle visit in the last election cycle.

Chipotle is pretty tasty, but whenever I eat there, within an hour, I feel as if I ate a boat anchor!

I love Mexican food, but I don’t love Chipotle at all. In fact, I don’t get the whole Chipotle thing. People in my office do love it, so I have begrudgingly eaten there many times. To me it’s just okay. In my mind the only thing that distinguishes it from all the other fresh Mexican places is its nondescript industrial atmosphere. I don’t hate it, but I certainly don’t understand the hype it engenders among so many people.

This is the 57th posting of a story that features THAT WOMAN!!! I just counted the postings on FR from midnight until now, so a bit under 24 hours. It will be an ordeal, truly, to wade through these countless stories, and postings, and comments, and analyses, about THAT WOMAN!!! Is it me who is overly sensitive, or have we lost our minds in the attention we are giving to THAT WOMAN!!!

Ha ha. That will probably be the lowest number of posts about here from now until about eight years from now.

Everything this woman does is staged. Her career in public service should have been squashed after being fired for lying during serving as Watergate counsel.

Kind of fitting, hillary is enough for people to crap blood, and she likes a food that makes you crap blood.

I know a lot of people who swear by Chipotle. Never eaten there myself.

The mass cultural obsession with utterly trivial nonsense -- like politicians eating at a particular fast food joint -- is yet another indication of the utter shallowness of modern society.

It is expensive and one can make their own little Chipotle at home for less. I try to get a job there but they didn’t hire me. I rather make my own authentic Mexican Food.

If I sent you my cell #, would you walk me off this ledge? I'm on the roof of the Tribune Tower in Chicago, 462 feet up. I chose this building because I want to draw as much attention as possible to the over-attention given to THAT WOMAN!!!.

But maybe, just maybe, you can say the right words that will prevent my spectacular leap into the Chicago River below.
