But, isn’t it a fact that the sky high rents and housing costs are found mainly in Manhattan? And that prices are much more reasonable in other boroughs, or in suburbs? The most expensive rents are in Manhattan. But the boroughs & surrounding areas in NJ & Conn are also insanely high & so I would not consider them "reasonable". Just less expensive.

On average, Brooklyn and Queens are less expensive than Manhattan, as they are much larger (and it is not at all convenient to commute to Manhattan from some of the outlying areas in both boroughs), but there are parts of Brooklyn and Queens that are just as expensive as Manhattan these days.

NYC is expensive. So are a lot of other areas.
If I wanted to live in Monte Carlo I’d have to get a room mate or two or three.
People don’t have to do that. They can live someplace more affordable.
