Exclusive–Sen. Ted Cruz: 2nd Amendment ‘a Fundamental Check on Government Tyranny’
Breitbart ^ | 4/10/2015 | AWR Hawkins

On April 9, Breitbart News had the opportunity to talk with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) about guns and gun rights, and he told us that the Second Amendment “serves as a fundamental check on government tyranny.”

Cruz answered a question about the importance of the Second Amendment:

Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story described the Second Amendment as the palladium of our liberties. It is foundation to free men and free women being able to defend their homes, their families, their lives and liberty, and it also serves as a fundamental check on government tyranny.

As a follow-up to the first question, Breitbart News then asked why guns are important for free people?

Cruz responded:

America was founded on a revolutionary concept. Namely, that our rights don’t come from government, they come from God Almighty. The natural rights of man include life, liberty, and property. Each of those rights is dependent upon being able to preserve the safety and security of your own family. In fact, the very first Congress not only acted to protect our Second Amendment rights but mandated the militia act; that adult free men must own a musket.

From your lips to God’s ear.

“The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against
arbitrary government, one more safeguard against the tyranny
which now appears remote in America, but which historically
has proved to be always possible.”

A politician who talks like he has heard of Thomas Jefferson and like he has a vague concept of what any of those “big words” in the constitution mean. Hell yes!

Don’t get a musket - takes forever to load & is a bear to clean. Looks great over the mantlepiece, though.

Besides, liberals claim that the 2nd Amendment guarantees only the right to own a musket since that’s all there was in 1791.

Stick with an AR or AK, IMO. Ted Cruz gets it, BTW.

Cruz demonstrates that a man who knows what he believes is fearless.

He believes the Constitution, he believes God and our rights come from God, and he is not afraid to say it, not intimidated by the PC crowd, he will say time and again, not just on a few opportune occasions but every occasion is an opportunity for him, he has confidence, courage and resolve, he not only demonstrates those attributes consistently he teaches them and uses them to diminish those in opposition to his ultimate goal of Restoring Our Constitutional Free Republic.
