I think Curley Byrd was the reason Bear Bryant left Maryland.
You can’t have two bosses and I think Curley wanted to control the football team too. I do think Bryant respected him.

I think Curley Byrd was the reason Bear Bryant left Maryland.According to Wikipedia, that is true. Byrd reinstated a player whom Bryant had benched for bad behavior, and Bryant resigned in protest, as well he should have. See the link at post 16.
