Exploration firm U.K. Oil & Gas Investments said Thursday there may be up to 100 billion barrels of oil at an onshore site in south England, near Gatwick airport, a company spokesperson told CNN.
That's more than double the amount of oil pumped from Britain's energy offshore North Sea fields in the past 40 years. The company's share of the total reserves are estimated at close to 9 billion barrels.
UKOG chief executive Stephen Sanderson described the discovery as a "world class potential resource."

Peak Oil Alert!
All those muslim immigrants brought their oil with them.
Having now been publicly announced I wonder how long this has been a secret.
This is astounding news for the Uk I wonder how they will use it?
Will it be used to make themselves oil independent and to create jobs that are so desperately needed or sell the whole thing shebang off to the highest bidder?\\
Where is credit due on this discovery?
Queen Elizabeth aged 89 will have this to her credit as an ageing monarch going out with a biggest discovery within the UK history other than found gold hoardes which are turned over to museums ,etc.
I don’t believe she is personally involved YET these are her assets. This discovery more than greatly increases her financial portfolio and perhaps change the course of history within the UK as we know it.

Maybe she was the one that said “Drill Baby Drill”
LOL
How the hell did they never find a lode like this in a country that size over the last 125 or so years??? I’d like to see a geologic map of that area...
Ah, Weald Basin, a shale play. looks like it might be easier than the average too...
Me too. Somehow I can't see oil derricks sprouting up in Surrey and Hampshire. Too many rich guys with grass roofs would have their views disturbed.
Does the Queen own that particular bit of land?
You never know-all those toffs in Surrey & Hampshire could either sell at loss or profit depending upon if they have in their hands the black-gold map & that’s where the $’s are-
It would be really hysterical to see a black-gold rush in the UK & all the sell offs-it would be a buyer’s market but I would have concerns if Grade I & Grade II properties were involved .
But no one has the map! Only a select few! this is going to be really something for the UK
Your comment reminded me tho’ of something about John Kerry-
here’s a google page full of his big old blowboat & not paid taxes on it being sheltered out of state ........
Think this might have killed the SNP’s case for Scottish independence. Low oil prices and a huge discovery in England that is much cheaper to extract and add money to the public purse to be spread accross the UK. Unless they are stupid enough to allow the SNP to impose full fiscal autonomy in Scotland and for it their share of this wealth...
Start studying royal landholdings
In my haste I posted a wall of Kerry’s blowboat to you- I a pologize & didn’t mean to overwhelm.
but as you can see...
” Too many rich guys with grass roofs would have their views disturbed. “
Not to mention their houses.
Under the 1934 Petroleum Protection Act any underground oil reserves on the UK mainland are the property of the Crown Estate. All profits from the Crown Estate’s business go to the Treasury. There is no personal benefit to the monarch.
Because God is British.
Didnt you know this?.
Good. I am for energy independence for the USA and our allies, but not for our enemies. I want to turn the tables and make them dependent on us.
sounds like sensationalism as the article appears to mix oil in place with reserves.
Very different
>> Peak Oil Alert! <<
Yep, that ole peak keeps gettin’ higher and higher!
Next comes the statement: Sorry folks, because oil use leads to climate change, we will not develop this resource. Please conitinue to suffer high energy rates.
ty for the clarification
