A Russian pilot flew a Mig-25, (Which, at the time, was tippy top secret.), to Japan when he defected. The Soviet government demanded it's property back, and the Japanese government complied.

The aircraft went back in small boxes, having been dis-assembled to the last nut, bolt and rivet...

We had designed and rushed into production the F-16, based on intelligence estimates of projected Mig-25 performance. One had been tracked by radar, flying from Syria to Egypt, by the Israelis, at Mach 2.5. (The Mig burned out it's engines going on afterburner for that long, and barely made it to a landing.) But we didn't find that out for years.

In sum, we built a plane that was orders of magnitude better than the soviets, because we were afraid of an opium dream that the USSR created.

I'd ship the Norks the aircraft, short a few little parts, like afterburner igniters, gearbox bearings, the needles on the instruments...
