How Jerry Brown made the California drought worse and what can be done about it
The Examiner ^ | 04/04/2015 | Mark Whittington

Victor Davis Hanson, noting the draconian water restrictions that Gov. Jerry Brown has imposed on California, suggested that Brown and his cohorts have only themselves to blame for the effects of the drought in a piece in City Journal on Thursday. When Brown was first governor, in the 1970s, he opposed a number of projects that might have brought more water to parched Californians. Brown also diverted water to fish and river enhancement that might instead have lessened the effects of the drought.

As a result of Brown’s folly, California’s agricultural sector is in great peril. This peril will impact the food supply of the United States. “California supplies a staggering percentage of the nation’s fresh vegetables and fruits; it’s among the most efficient producers in the world of beef, dairy, and staple crops.” That may no longer be the case if the drought continues for much longer and California does nothing.

What can be done? Investor’s Business Daily suggests a free market solution.

“What California needs is more water, not more government mandates. Water is a commodity just like any other, and its allocation should not be left to governments.

Jerry Brown is in the same political position as BHO. He never has to face the voters again and will do whatever he pleases regardless of opinion polls.

The rich Democrats of California cordially invite all their fellow Californians to drive off a cliff.

Amazing how most of the states that are screwed up are run by the goose stepping left.

A little facial recognition and I think we may have some candidates for volunteers to have their water shut off. :)

Some 95% of the personal woe in this world is self-induced.

Now maybe Jerry Brown does not personally miss the water (after all, he is one of the privileged elite), but his constituents sure do, and they may be expected to make life, well, uncomfortable for the Guv’nor. But hey, they retreaded him and voted him in.

Kind of miss Gray Davis.

Gonna take a trip to CA this summer and thought we’d take a few cases of bottled water along. Kinda like hotels in Venezuela asking tourists to bring their own TP.
