I could add up every email I’ve ever sent since 1999 and still probably get just over 10k.

The Office of Governor Kate Brown today released all non-privileged e-mails in its possession that were sent between the three personal email accounts used by former First Lady Cylvia Hayes and any official Governor’s Office e-mail account. This release responds to requests from the media initially made prior to Governor Brown taking office and contains approximately 94,000 emails and attachments, about 330,000 pages.  Duplication has been eliminated to the greatest extent possible.

A password may be required to access the electronic files of documents. It is: cA3h*eV8ez@3kE

A number of documents being released today are labeled “Attorney-Client Privilege” and/or include counsel to the Office of the Governor among the documents’ authors, senders or recipients.  These documents are being released because it is the opinion of the Office of the Governor that these records – notwithstanding any labeling – are not, in fact, covered by the attorney-client privilege.  The release of these documents is therefore not intended as and does not constitute a waiver of the Office of the Governor’s attorney-client privilege with respect to those documents that are indeed properly covered by the privilege.  The Office of the Governor is withholding a small number of documents from this production that it believes are legitimately covered by the Attorney-Client privilege.

A number of documents being released today are labeled “internal advisory.”  Governor Brown believes that, in view of the unique and historic circumstances surrounding these particular documents, the strong weight of the public interest justifies the release of these records.

Some of the released documents carry limited redactions, which relate to the personal safety, privacy, security, and integrity of state telecommunications exemptions created by Oregon’s Public Records statutes.  Redactions may be indicated in .TFF files by blacked-out text, or as blank space in text files.

Anyone may access public records already released in response to requests for Governor’s Office documents from the media and the public since October 2014 at http://www.oregon.gov/gov/Pages/Public-Records-Log.aspx
