The people growing crops in California are far from socialists. They are very conservative.
If you don't get your crops from California, you're going to get them from Mexico or other third world nations. Your choice!
I haven’t heard of any place in California where it is illegal to collect water off your own roof. I have heard calls by some politicians in my area to make it mandatory to have rain barrows to collect water from your roof.
Not all of California has major water problems, but even those areas that did prepare and have enough water are still required to cut water use.
