How do you know The New York Times is all in for protecting Barack Obama? When its editorial board turns on a fellow Democrat who bucked him on the Iran deal.

"The New York Times is calling for New Jersey Sen. Robert Menendez to resign in the face of criminal charges of bribery."

How refreshing for the NYT to be going after one of their own ilk for a change.

* Where’s the call for Lois Lerner to be prosecuted?

* Where’s the call for Hillary to divulge the contents of her State Dept. related emails?

* Where’s the call for Harry Reid to apologize to Mitt Romney for lying about his “tax evasion”?

* Where’s the call for Jon Corzine to be prosecuted for losing billions of investors money at MF Global?

* Where’s the call for the American hostages in Iran to be released before the deal was reached?

If there was a Snowball’s chance in Hell that he would be replaced by a Republican, the NYT would be defending him till the very end.

Reid and Sibelius were in the same room with Menendez crafting one of the deals Menendez is being put on the gibbet for. Why are they not under indictment too? Other than the fact that they did NOT criticize The 0ne I mean.

* Where’s the call for the Rose Law Firm billing records?

* Where’s the call for who killed Vince Foster?

* Where’s the call for Obama’s origins?

* Where’s the call for .... oh, screw it, it’ll never happen.

My guess: it has something to do with protecting Hillary, you know her fingers are stuck in the same or similar pies, and they figure that if Menendez resigns, Hillary’s minions will work behind the scenes to cop a plea deal that keeps him from doing time.

The New York Times editorial board, however, is not convinced, writing that the indictment should spark "outrage" in readers because of the "brazen pattern of gifts and favors" it outlines.

Funny that the NYT isn't so outraged by the "brazen pattern of gifts and favors" to the Clinton Foundation.

This is an effort to make sure any vacancy is created before May 2nd, thirty days before N.J.’s June 2nd primary, so that there is a special election to fill the seat in November 2015. If Menendez holds on until May 3rd, Christie can appoint a replacement and a special election will not be held until 2016.

The delay would give Republicans an extra seat in the Senate and allow a Republican incumbent to defend the seat in 2016.

Holds on until May 3rd, and then resigns, of course.

We should hope. No one who’s done it has had much political future.

The most egregious of all: The failure of BJ Clinton to resign. While the media tried to spin the story to make the Monica affair the headline, the fact is that Monica was subpoenaed as part of Paula Jones’ sexual harassment suit against BJ. THAT case was settled for $890K and resulted in BJ’s law license being suspended for 5 years.

If the sexual harassment of Paula Jones wasn’t sufficient for a president to resign, why would anyone else?

If there was a silver lining to BJ hanging on, it was that the destruction of the country we are watching today was delayed for eight years.

When our Dem “gay American” governor resigned a few years back here in NJ, he made sure that it wasn’t effective until Dems could select his replacement.
