Left right out: the campaign to stifle conservative views
The Australian ^ | 1st April 2015 | Jennifer Oriel

A curious condition of early 21st-century life is that for every citizen trained in causal reasoning and dedicated to truth, there is a mob of determinedly unenlightened dolts incapable of distinguishing public opinion from empirical fact, whose greatest champion is the censorial Left.

Enter the latest limp cant against Social Services Minister Scott Morrison by former students of his alma mater, Sydney Boys High School. In an online letter endorsed by John Pilger, the moribund band of brothers exhorts the school to withdraw a speaking invitation to Morrison on the charge that he advocated policies in violation of the UN Convention against Torture.

The totality of evidence tendered is UN hearsay and the Human Rights Commission report into child detention which I, among others, exposed as causally fallacious.

If the Sydney Boys High alumni cared more for fact than fiction, they would congratulate Morrison for his exceptional protection of human rights. As immigration minister, he reduced the 1992 children amassed in detention under the Labor government to 192.

As revealed in The Australian, under Labor’s border policy, there were more than 51,000 asylum-seekers (including 8400 children) and 1200 people died at sea. But the inclusion of such facts would impede the petitioners’ stated aim to ensure Morrison was disinvited from speaking to students.

Leftist campaigns to censor conservatives have gained popularity with the rise of social media. During the past two years, a record number of conservatives have had speaking invitations cancelled or withdrawn by universities and schools following protests by left-wing faculty and students as well as Islamists.

.....

The effect of such a prejudicial politics is the exclusion of pro-Western and conservative knowledge from public education. Its consequence is the intellectual enervation of a generation, unlearned in what makes the free world free and how to defend it.

Unfortunately the article may be behind a paywall - I can't tell - but you can often get to such articles anyway, by googling the first sentence.

Political Correctness is happening Down Under, too. Who’d have expected this in the land of Crocodile Dundee?
