What a fascinating idea. I have never thought of that. Definitely some merit in your proposal. Hmmm.

I agree, I don’t want to underwrite these loans not even one cent’s worth but just like with the mortgage fiasco, we are not watching the scene play out. The orchestration is on for a taxpayer funded loan bail out. This will not have a happy ending for those of us who are cautious in our borrowing styles.

I have a similar idea regarding teachers pensions .... let the success of their school district pay their retirement

-— When the debt was private, you had to convince a lender to back you -—

It’s not that complicated, is it?

When you’re insulated from the effects of your decisions, it’s no wonder young people don’t understand cause and effect.

Part of the solution (going forward) might be right there. No federal loan guarantees for for-profit school tuition.

That, in a nutshell, is the official Obama Administration position. Okay, you can wash your brain out with Fels-Naptha now.

I work in the IT field and a couple of years ago, I had two internships that was free, one in a PC store and one in a corporate office, I did not get paid $hit but got some experience to put on paper which helped later on, and though I dropped out of school but now will be taking myself back to school soon to finish up my AS in IT studies, at least I have the experience to back it up.

Agreed and I will go further and say that even with the hiring of so many working with college degrees has not improved the workplace as a whole, and a good chunk of them will probably end up being replaced or fired, it might look good with HR but in reality, just because they have a degree that does not mean they are ready for the job and god forbid a supervisory position, seen way to many N00bs with just a degree %uck everything up because they think they know more than others when they do not.

He shamelessly stole the idea from me, probably from an illegal NSA wiretap. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I was a hiring manager for years at a couple of engineering firms and I made sure we hired college kids. It was good for them, as we paid them well and great for us as they always did billable work.

Almost all of the kids were eventually hired full time.

The point is, if you are studying something that no one will even give you a summer job in, then it is not likely you will get a full time job in that field either.
