Opinion: Could the anti-immigrant loudmouths pass a U.S. citizenship test?

The most serious problem here is not that people are cold-hearted. Most people aren't. Neither is the issue that illegals had to already commit a crime to remain in the country. That also can be worked out, as people can repent and sin no more. The real problem here is that most of those "immigrants" have no marketable skills. Even agriculture - something that CA used to have - is withering, literally, as there is no water in the state. There are too few manual labor jobs in the country, and those are already occupied by other immigrants (who walk around with leafblowers, for example.) The new batch of immigrants, if legally accepted, will have to turn to crime because there is nothing else for them to do. Plenty are doing that already, as the US industry uses fewer, but more skilled, employees, and automates positions of everyone else.

Sure, if an immigrant has skills in electronic assembly, nursing, biotech, or finances she perhaps can find a job. But that's what I'd expect from an immigrant from Sweden, not from Guatemala. Can they learn? No, most of them cannot. It is expensive, it requires certain physical qualities, certain business ethic, and it hinges on a pretty good command of English. As they are, most of newcomers from Central America are only able to work manual labor, preferrably in the fields. But that's what seasonal, migrant workers are for - and there are programs for those, as I recall. The workers don't need to winter in CA, paying $1000/mo for rent, if they can fly back to MX and live in their own home with their family.

Irrelevant demagoguery.

To answer the question: Yes. It isn’t difficult.

The real question should be: Can the open borders idiots pass a citizenship test, and the answer is no. Some might be able to, but the majority of them are mouth slobbering, screaming half-wits, and that is being generous.

Whether or not illegal invaders can pass a citizenship test is irrelevant. Send them home to pass citizenship tests in their own countries, all of which could use more good citizens.

I would bet that a higher percentage of conservative voters would pass than liberal voters. I don’t think I would be opposed to voters having to pass a citizenship test in order to vote except for the fact it would be unconstitutional. Maybe time for another amendment?

Could Ted Rall pass an intelligence test?

Rall is the same douche nozzle who drew cartoons depicting 9/11 widows as disgruntled lottery winners. I had hoped he was dead; instead, I find he hasn’t even grown up.

I would wager they could pass the test a lot easier than the native pro-amnesty idiots.

“Let’s deport everyone who can’t pass the basic requirements to become an American citizen, whether or not they were born here.”

Good idea. I damn guarantee you that the vast majority of those who fail that test will be liberals and other pro-illegal immigration people.

To listen to talk radio and cable television, which are dominated by conservatives

Cable television is dominated by conservatives? Has Ted Rall ever visited America? There is a single mildly conservative cable news channel in a sea of liberal news and non-news programming as far as the eye can see.

I stopped right there. I should have stopped at Ted Rall, but I gave him a shot because I haven't heard from him in years. He has not gotten smarter in the interim.

Three things wrong in just the title-

1) Conservatives are not “anti-immigration”- just “anti-ILLEGAL-immigration

2) We are not loudmouths- and a reporter should not use such language- but hey, that’s a liberal ‘loudmouth’ for you...

3) Passing the test should be what immigrants have to do, not legal lifelong citizens.

What difference does it make?

How about asking them if they can navigate the red tape to secure false identities and government handout checks?

Ted Rall finds anything to the right of The Daily Worker to be “extreme right wing”.

The rest of us are already citizens. We don’t need to take no steenking test. Not that the majority of illegals have any inclination become citizens anyway. The whole argument is bogus. The illegals are here, well, illegally.

A lot of legal immigrants don’t want to take the test either. They just want to make their own enclave here and demand we accommodate their life style.

I’d like to see all immigration shut down for 2-3 years and re-assess the whole thing.

Of the “teenage” central Americans (many in their twenties and thirties) that Obama “executive amnestied”—not long after publicly questioning his own power to do so—and as a condition of that amnesty the amnestied “kids” agreed to appear for hearings.
90% of them blew the hearings off. Now they’re in safe houses.

“Pay taxes, pass a background check and learn English”? And then the money shot: Amnesty.

But nothing about *them* passing a citizenship test .... This the same tired BS the left and their allies the McCains and Bushes have been trying to cram down our throats (”You like your national sovereignty? you can keep ..”) since we shut them down in 2006.

And consider the source: Ted Rall is a perverted, ultra-leftwing, failed cartoonist and serial sheep diddler.
Keep setting them up, Ted, and we’ll keep knocking them down you POS.
