President Obama said Monday he supports the recommendations of a military commission that would reduce the size of traditional military retirement pay by about 20 percent and offer a new defined-contribution benefit for troops who leave before 20 years of service.

In a letter to congressional leaders, Mr. Obama said the proposals are “an important step forward in protecting the long-term viability of the all-volunteer force, improving quality-of-life for service members and their families, and ensuring the fiscal sustainability of the military compensation and retirement systems.”

Mr. Obama said he has directed his advisers to refine some recommendations, and that the White House will report to Congress on any proposed changes by April 30.

Under the recommendations, the plan would continue to offer full retirement benefits to anyone who has served 20 years or more.

Sure. What’s one more kick in the butt to our Armed Forces.

Is there anything this Kenyan Klown won’t do to degrade and disrespect the military?

I think the more appropriate question is “how much longer are Americans going to continue to bend over and take it?”

What a load of horse crap. The retirement system was mangled prior to this and BHO's actions will only further the mess. Something he excels at.

How about reducing the benefits of welfare recipients, reducing the public housing provided to drug dealers and their ilk? How about reducing the amount of cash that goes to third-world countries that always seem to 'misplace' the funds once delivered?

And the Pentagon worries that they will not be able to reach their recruiting goals in the future.

Granted if I were younger I wouldn’t want to serve under this present administration anyway, but cutting retirement pay for people that earn it is really Damned stupid. Its sure not going to encourage future recruits and I sure as hell would not reccomend anyone join the military while the resident idiot is in charge.

Hat because you take an oath and put on a uniform doesn’t mean your giving the government the right to throw your life away for nothing.Like the present clown in chief has done.

I support the military and their retirement payments, whereas I’d just as soon as everyone in D.C. get nothing at all, and be made to pay us back.

Go to Hell, Barry.

The savings will be sent to: The Moslem Brotherhood,
ISIS, al Qaeda, and of course, used to weaponize
the narcoterrorists from Mexico and South America
through withHolder then brought in by DH”S”.

Will Obama do the same thing for unionized Federal employees?

Of course not.

This only makes sense to someone who hates the military. The 20 year retirement was already a pittance, for most enlisted folks anyway. Now, he wants to reduce that to start some benefit for those that leave with less than 20 years....

nonsensical.

Well, that’s one way to destroy the all-volunteer forces.
