Potential McCain Challenger Kelli Ward: Widespread ‘Dissatisfaction’ with McCain Job Performance
breitbart.com ^ | 3/28/15 | Michelle Moons

Rising star in Arizona, State Senator Kelli Ward, took time out of her busy late season legislative schedule to give Breitbart’s Matthew Boyle an exclusive interview on the weekly Breitbart News Saturday radio program. Buzz over fresh political leader Ward grows daily with talk that she is the “David” considering taking on threatened political “Goliath,” U.S. Senator John McCain, in the 2016 primary election.

Ward started out telling Boyle she’s “still in the consideration phase,” while she finishes out the current Arizona legislative session. She said this week she’ll be focusing her efforts on her duties in the state Senate.

Turning to a recent McCain fundraising plea, Boyle mentioned that McCain seems “really worried that he might not win” his expected re-election bid to the Senate. Boyle asked Ward, “Why do you think it is that Senator McCain is really worried about re-election prospects?”

Ward didn’t speculate, but offered, “I know here in Arizona there is some dissatisfaction with the representation that’s been going down, at least the last couple of terms he’s been in office. I don’t think that he’s as popular as he used to be, and maybe that worries him that there are people out there looking and thinking and considering jumping into that race.” She continued, “I have to say that I agree with Senator Cruz: It’s time for the next generation of leadership to come in and to put America back on the right path.”

Emails have been sent out in recent weeks claiming that a current member of the US House, Matt Salmon, is the “conservative” alternative to McCain in the primary next year. Salmon is one of the 95 percent RINO House members who supported Boehner for leader the last two terms as I understand it.

If McCain runs for re-election, the GOPe will protect him with vote splitting multiple opponents, I suspect.

US Senators are extremely difficult to defeat — almost impossible for a person of the same party.

Arkansas displaced Senator Lincoln (Democrat) by having her challenged by a moderate Republican. Citizens were very disappointed with her performance in recent years.

Next, Arkansas displaced Senator Pryor (Democrat) by having him challenged by a more conservative Republican. Citizens were very disappointed with Pryor’s performance in recent years.

US Reps seem to be much easier to replace.

Those old senators have been around long enough to know where bodies are buries, who has the money and how they got it, etc. They have collected a lot of I.O.U.s and they wave them around at reelection time.

I would love to see someone take McCain out, but I don't know if Kelli Ward has the name recognition. I thought JD Hayworth would have taken McCain out but the republican elites are strong and I think they will destroy her early.

Does Arizona have a “sore loser” law? I could see McCain switching sides if he were to lose the primary.

Anyone with a brain could unseat McCain.

He clearly doesn’t represent Arizona. That’s the point.

He has done NOTHING to advance the interests of the State unless you consider turning the State into Alta Sonora something of interest.

Running around Eastern Europe and Northern Syria with various thug militias is not something that housewives in Tempe give a crap about. And they DO vote.

Kelli would be formidable. Republican women are very powerful in Arizona because they are generally more politically involved then in rural or urban areas.

McCain has no connection to any of them. He’s a creature of the Federal Monster, a D.C. swamp dweller who only uses his district as a launch platform to get him back in the Power gang.

Time for someone who represents Arizona to replace him. He can always retire to Reston or Arlington, someplace he actually identifies with.

Just because I’ve called and emailed McCain I guess he thinks I’m one of his “friends”. Yesterday Cindy sent an email saying that he was struggling as to whether or not he should run again and please send money. So sending money will help him decide?

I could see McCain switching sides if he were to lose the primary.

How would that be different than the way he votes after he wins?

She had better be prepared to be shredded. McCain is nasty vicious against conservatives. I hope she can unseat that Democrat in an R jersey.
