I really don’t get this - I’m a Christian and if I was a business owner and my business philosophy was not to serve sinners - well, I think I’d find myself broke in short order...
Hell, I couldn’t even serve myself...
I don’t like sin - or homosexuality or gay marriage even - but this seems absurd and these people are being setup for for this crap..
If it was me and I felt that strongly about this one particular sin - then I’d either say, sorry I’m booked for the rest of the year or I would find a way to make Christ known through my service... If they didn’t like that they could fire me - with some of the down payment kept of course.
These people are falling on their own swords in my opinion and not really helping themselves - I think a clever pill is in order...
my 2 pennies....
"Not serving sinnners" --- this woman says her shop has supplied flowers purchased by gays for birthdays, graduations and other kinds of occasions --- so she's not discriminating against gays as such, as general customers.
Where she draws a line is when she is expected to recognize their "wedding" and help them celebrate it. Flowers are expressive of joy in this event: it is participation in, or sharing in the celebration of this event that the lady says she cannot do in good conscience.
If a customer wanted a floral arrangement for Celebrate Ku Klux Klan Day or Happy Birthday Adolf Hitler --- or even, say, for the the Westboro Baptist Church (Phelps and his freakish family) adorned with a ribbon that says "God Hates Fags" --- is a florist obliged to cooperate with this expressive behavior whether the florist wants to or not?
