Five myths about Sen. Ted Cruz
WaPo/Houston Chronicle ^ | Ross Ramsey

Posted on 03/27/2015 11:54:59 AM PDT by BenLurkin

1. Ted Cruz is anti-establishment.

..

But Cruz's resume is crammed with establishment credentials. He holds degrees from Princeton and Harvard; clerked for Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist; worked as an adviser on the 2000 presidential campaign of George W. Bush, who was the clear establishment candidate in that race; and served as solicitor general for the state of Texas. And if you're part of the U.S. Senate, you're part of the establishment.

2. He's another Obama.

...

Cruz has, unsurprisingly, seized every chance to rebut the comparison, calling Obama a "back bencher" in the Senate who "did not take a leadership role on really issues of any significance." And he has a point. Aside from the buzz after his 2004 Democratic National Convention keynote address, Obama got little national attention until he jumped into the 2008 presidential race; even his defenders tend to have a hard time naming his accomplishments in the Senate.

3. Cruz has the tea party locked up.

...

4. He can't win the GOP nomination.

Cruz had barely announced his candidacy when the "He'll never win" comments came pouring in.

That's also what they said when he ran for Senate.

...

But Cruz's bid is hardly hopeless.

5. Cruz is running for president.

...

Cruz has yet to offer a rhetorical lifeline to the left or even the center. Cruz isn't running for president -- he's running to be the leader of a new GOP.

This is laughable, what positions has Cruz consistently held: “Upholding the RULE OF LAW”.

Right now DC is operating OUTSIDE of the rule of law via Selective enforcement and Special Exemptions (cough cough obamacare)...

So that ALONE puts Ted Cruz in as an “Anti-Esablishment” politician.

I always saw Gore as the DC establishment candidate in 2000.

on the 2000 presidential campaign of George W. Bush, who was the clear establishment candidate in that race

I think John McCain would take issue with the article's characterization of Bush. McCain had plenty of establishment backers when he ran against Bush in 2000.

“Cruz has yet to offer a rhetorical lifeline to the left or even the center. Cruz isn’t running for president “

Ah, because who can forget the many “lifelines” that Obama offered to the right and the center when he ran, right?

Speaking of myths about Ted Cruz:

Here is a Dewhurst radio ad that made people want to give Ted Cruz 57% of the vote for Texas Senate and beat the pants off Dewhurst.

I know the dripping acid voices of the gals in the ad made me want to grind my teeth and spit out my molars.

GO TED!!

The New York Times, The LA Times, The Washington Post and all the Networks perhaps even Fox tell us that Ted Cruz is not electable. All of the above mentioned are pro democrat with the exception of Fox which is pro Republican establishment i.e Jeb Bush. If Ted Cruz was truly unelectable all the Democrats would pray for his nomination and say nothing. Fox News knows he is electable but wants Jeb Bush. Cruz scares the hell out of the Democrat party and the Republican Establishment. Neither of those two entities believe in the Constitution of The United States. Ted Cruz does believe in the constitution.

TED CRUZ IS THE RIGHTFUL HEIR OF RONALD REGAN'S LEGACY. IF YOU LIKED REGAN YOU WILL LOVE TED CRUZ.

Yep you are right. I did not pay much attention to the race until Dewhurst put out that ad. It really pissed me off and I then started looking closely at Cruz and Dewhurst. It did not take much research to determine that Ted Cruz was a strict constitutionalists and loved my state and great nation. I voted for Cruz based on Dewhurst's vile attack add.

With progressive democrats and PC RINOS whining about him?

How can Cruse expect to win? The only thing he’s got going for him is honesty, integrity, love of country and Constitution, brilliant intelligence, eloquence and — maybe most important — the guts and will to stick it to the progressive scum as well as his “fellow” republican traitors.

I’m not rich, but I’m energized, for the first time in years! Here’s a guy we can follow through the bowels of hell.

I’m in for $50 and plan to keep on giving. http://www.tedcruz.org/?utm_source=p-email&utm_medium=email6&utm_campaign=email

Let’s step up.
