Politicians frequently claim theyve been misquoted or misunderstood by reporters. See Scott Walkers spokeswomans response to a Wall Street Journal report about his position on amnesty.
But theres a sure way to avoid that: Keep reporters out of the room.
The Phoenix Business Journal reports thats what Gov. Walker did when he spoke this week to the Arizona Chamber of Commerce. It was part of a series featuring presidential contenders.
Id love to tell you what he had to say that was important enough for him to travel thousands of miles from home, but I cant, Travis Arbon writes. The event was closed to the media.
However, Arbon adds, although traditional media outlets were denied access, that didnt stop the chamber from encouraging attendees to share the days events on social media through #AZLeadership on Twitter.
Of course, the real expert at holding meetings behind closed doors is President Obama.
Just this week he huddled with Hillary Clinton without letting reporters know, and his spokesman says hell likely do so again. The president also hosted a meeting with Muslim leaders in February and held back a list of attendees for days, despite repeated press inquiries. Expect more such gatherings during the final months of the administration.

Hiding from the public to make amnesty promises behind close doors and then repudiate them once word leaks out is NOT a winning strategy.

Walker sold out the the
"ESTABLISHMENT REPUBLICANS".
Look at his FLIP-FLOP on AMNESTY.
You can NOT TRUST Walker.
I quote his answers to "On The Issues".
Endorses path to citizenship for immigrant workers
Scott Walker distanced himself from House Republicans debating a new immigration bill by endorsing a path to citizenship for immigrant workers.Walker acknowledged that a substantial number of Wisconsin farms depend on migrant workers, some of them here illegally.
He also was sharply critical of how difficult the federal government makes it for those workers to come to this country. "If people want to come here and work hard and benefit, I don't care whether they come from Mexico or Ireland or Germany or Canada or South Africa or anywhere else," he said.
"I want them here."
The Democratic-led U.S. Senate passed an immigration bill last week that features a path to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants already in the U.S.
Many conservative House Republicans oppose the bill, viewing it as rewarding law-breakers.
He said as a gubernatorial candidate in 2010 that he would sign an Arizona-style bill, which would allow local police to stop suspected illegal immigrants.
Make it easier to enter the country legally
Walker said he is in favor of the Senate immigration bill--that features a path to citizenship--but called it a backward "Band-Aid" approach,
saying elected leaders should make it easier for people to enter the country and become legal citizens in the first place. "Not only do they need to fix things for people already here, or find some way to do it, there's got to be a larger way to fix the system in the first place," he said.
"Because if it wasn't so cumbersome, if there wasn't such a long wait, if it wasn't so difficult to get in, we wouldn't have the other problems that we have (with people living here illegally)," he said.
Walker's stance on immigration reform evolved over the years.
2010: stop suspected illegals; 2012: that's a distraction
Walker's stance on immigration reform evolved over the years.
He said as a gubernatorial candidate in 2010 that he would sign an Arizona-style bill, which would allow local police to stop suspected illegal immigrants, if he were elected.
Then, in December 2012, Walker said he no longer favored such a bill, telling reporters that such legislation would become a "huge distraction" from accomplishing his agenda for the state.
Today, Walker said he would support a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants under some circumstances.
The R ticket can GO TO HELL!
CRUZ or LOSE!
What You Need To Know About Ted Cruz ( 1:46 )

If he is too stupid to know that there is no way to keep cameras out of a “secret” meeting, then he is too stupid to be president.
Does this clown even own a cellphone?

I am beginning to think that the Conservative field of potential candidates will commit fratricide fighting each other while Jeb Bush cements his base of support and walks off with the nomination.

Before this I was in the camp of “We should watch Walker and see what he has to say”.
HE HAS JUST BLOWN IT!
Anyone who speakes a a CLOSED event at a Chamber of Commerce (Many of which are sham-nasty supporters).
Shows me that the WEASEL promised them he would work AGAINST the PEOPLE who will be voting for him and FOR the PRO-AMNESTY chamberpot of Cronies....

This just feeds into that whole sense that the GOP leadership and its elite donor class have a completely different set of beliefs and values that it keeps hidden from its grassroots voter base. That the latter is just lied to and strung along for the sake of their votes.

Such a shame. And last week he was the top contender on my list. Now, it’s Cruz, baby.

I don't understand what he has to hide. The Chamber is a Fascist leftist wing of the Democrat
party and does not endorse American business freedom.

LOL.. the Uniparty operatives thought they had some success on BB so they came here to try their luck....
These posts are all the same verbage used everywhere else...
I think your going to have a much more difficult time playing the folks here than have elsewhere.
Here is the deal.. Most folks here are probably going to be voting for Cruz during the primary. I know I will... However, if Walker wins the primary anyway. Ill vote for him in the General because I have experience with the guy as the governor of the state I live in. He has defeated some of our most staunch enemies. He has not lied, he did what he said he was going to do. He did not back down.
Now If walker comes out and actualy says some things I dont agree with. THEN ill adjust my opinion. But right now this is just a bunch of media hype and speculation of political operatives.

The issue is whether Walker is a constitutional conservative. He has no DC voting record to back up his rhetoric.
He's doing it to himself, speaking behind closed doors to wealthy donors.

from your profile...
“Conservative in some ways, libertarian in some ways, liberal in others.”
Meh.. Id say probably socialist in most ways...
So...Dear reader... here we have an example of a uni-party political troll. As is probably the case with most of the posts that front loaded this thread.
