KEYWORDS: teendrivers
The word "distraction" falsely implies that there was some external event that drew their attention away from their driving. A more accurate phrase would be "irresponsible drivers."

Most of them followed the same pattern:
Too much attention to distracting activity.
Too little attention to steering/controlling vehicle.
Vehicle drifts out of lane/off edge of road.
Sudden realization.
Panic!
Over-Correction.
Crash.

Definitely inexperienced drivers - what jumped at me is when the majority of them would finally look up, they would instantly yank the wheel, over correct and go into dangerous out of control spins. They've got to be taught NOT to do that, but gently steer, let off the gas, brake gently if at all.

These kids aren’t distracted, they wont even let the road distract them from updating their Facebook page.

A guy I work with said yesterday he was passed by a mom driving and texting, and 2 young kids, 1 in a car seat.

I am shocked at their “oh-well-whatever” look in their face when some of those kids look up and realize what is going on.

Every few months, a young person in our area dies in an accident - and its usually an identical scenario.
They drift onto the shoulder, ‘overcorrect’, and end up dead.
When I taught my daughter drive, I made her drive on the shoulder, to experience the sound and bumps, and taught her to ease back onto the road. I did this specifically because of all the ‘yank the wheel’ deaths being reported.

Who is placing these cameras in the vehicle, and why?

They’ve got to be taught to pay attention to what they are doing-—driving a ton or more of steel.
