For a while during the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, that space food developed by NASA was marketed on earth. If I remember correctly, the food items were called Space Sticks. They didn’t taste very good—semi-sweet, sort of like a diet candy bar—but one that was the size of a fish stick was the equivalent of an entire meal.

I remember they were selling freeze dried ice cream at the NASA store.
