Angelina Jolie published an update this week on her medical condition. In 2013, she revealed that she had undergone a double mastectomy after learning that she carried a genetic mutation that significantly increases the risk of breast cancer. In an op-ed in Tuesday’s New York Times, Jolie reported on the difficult choices she has confronted and the preventive treatments she has chosen to receive. Last week, she underwent surgery to remove her fallopian tubes and ovaries, a procedure known as laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.
Jolie made her public pronouncements, both in 2013 and this week, to encourage other women who may be at risk to take control of their health care and to get the information they need to make tough choices. That is certainly valuable advice.
Obamacare guarantees that no American can be denied health coverage because of a preexisting medical condition. A diagnosis of cancer – or any other disease –no longer stands in the way of obtaining insurance to cover the cost of treating it.
Of course, for those without access to other forms of coverage, the options available on the Obamacare insurance exchanges are often less than ideal. Many policies have high deductibles and narrow networks of providers.
But procedures like those that Angelina Jolie underwent can cost tens of thousands of dollars. And treatments for cancer once it has developed can cost hundreds of thousands. That is enough to bankrupt many patients, if they had to pay the cost on their own. Insurance, at least, removes the threat of financial ruin as a cost of maintaining your health.
And that is a crucial first step toward true patient empowerment.

I wondered if this was some kind of publicity stunt. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was all arranged with the White House.
She has a net worth of $145 million. I doubt she needs Obamacare. Next someone will tell me that Brad Pitt voluntarily goes to the local Veteran’s hospital for care.

That's very nice. But what does that have to do with Angelina Jolie?
She's had at least two rounds of major surgery even though nothing was [physically] wrong with her.
She has never had cancer.
I don’t see that Jolie has made any connection to Obamacare. Her experience is being used to prop up Obamacare, when in fact Obamacare would likely have prevented her from getting her treatment rather than helped her. I have undergone a similar DNA analysis and discovered that I have several of the genetic markers for hemochromatosis. I took that to a specialist I have been seeing about health issues and he acted like I had brought in an astrology chart or readings from my palm. Since then medical doctors have moved to prevent the average person from having access to this kind of information. Jolie only got the access to the care she wanted and presumably needed because of her money.

Looks bad for those with similar problems facing death panels. So what does this monstrous Leftist puke do? Uses mega-wealthy Jolie to promote the very system that blocks access to medical care with death panels for poor people, of course.
And he doubles down on the perversion by emphasizing that poor people should sign up for their extermination precisely because they can’t afford what Jolie did to save her life.

There was a time when I might have accused you of hyperbole......., but that time has long passed.
Jolie has access to a cushy Blue Cross/Blue Shield policy via the Screen Actors Guild..of course, she may use other insurance..at any rate, she doesn’t need Zerocare.
One has nothing to do with the other. Jolie is paying cash for her treatment and is probably getting a hell of a better deal than anyone would who has to use insurance.
Just my little experience with energency surgery... I got a bill for $50,000. for a week long stay in the hospital. I demanded a full line by line listing of everything I was charged for. They couldn’t so I refused to pay what they couldn’t prove. Then, I asked for the equipment they charged me for. They couldn’t supply it so I didn’t pay for it (a $900 plastic staple gun for 1 staple? really?). Then, I argued about all the treatments they couldn’t explain. Top all that negotiations with pulling out a checkbook like I was at a car dealership I was out of there for 75% of what they said I owed. That was only 2 hours of negotiating. And it is amazing how much you can save if you call a doctor and tell him you just want to pay cash. If I were covered under the new Obamacare crap the hospital would still get the $50,000 and I would still be out the $15,000 deductible.
Ha, no way she’s on obamacare.
I have a dark past that I’ll share. I worked in a call center for Obama Care. I can tell you right now that she doesn’t even qualify for Obamacare. The only connection between her and Obama care is that she probably had to pay higher prices for the care she received in order to make up the difference for people on subsidized insurance.
I know someone who had her lips removed because she was afraid of getting a cold sore. /s
I don’t think she had cancer - she had markers for it which doesn’t necessarily follow that she would have to remove her female sex organs. I think she has a mental illness.
But aside from that, this has nothing to do with Obamacare. This administration is such a wh*re.
