I orient my reading of the whole bible by the character of God. Otherwise you have just tossed it into a blender and will get a mushy garbage.

As if He were some sort of distant Sphynx? You have to know what He is like before you truly know what His commands mean. Otherwise you will only be “obeying” in the flesh. And that will only earn you so much eternal hell.
