Ted Cruz deploys Ronald Reagan secret to victory

WASHINGTON – Ted Cruz is counting on the help of Barack Obama to win the White House.

That is, the senator intends to learn from the lessons of Obama’s 2008 “grassroots guerrilla campaign” for president, which the Texan often has spoken of admiringly.

But, while Cruz will borrow tactics from arguably the right’s greatest archenemy, he will follow the playbook of the right’s greatest hero, Ronald Reagan.

Grassroots support was the key to general election victories for both Obama and Reagan, but, like the Gipper, Cruz must first conquer his own party’s establishment.

He intends to do that not by appealing to the center, but by being his own man, an unapologetic conservative, and expanding the appeal of the Republican Party, just like Reagan.

And, just like Reagan, he intends to wage an insurgent campaign...

He’s on the right track. Grassroots is the only way to the nomination for him. This reminds me of when the people spoke and took Eisenhower to the nomination. The establishment already had their delegates lined up to nominate Stevenson but the grassroots said “Ike”. I was a toddler when this happened but we had just gotten television and the crowds and excitement were something I could never forget.
We Can elect Ted Cruz! Pray Hard, Work Hard, Trust God!

The article was inspiring. It made me want to knock on doors on Cruz’ behalf and put a campaign sign in my yard.

He is so much like Reagan.

Cruz needs to work on his delivery. Humor and more of a personal connection would help. I imagine that will evolve on its own, but it needs to be one of the things his people are working on.

[Bfl Cruz]

Definition BFL: is a carrot-and-sticK scheme - with the emphasis firmly on the carrot - designed to improve pupils’ behaviour and focus within school.

CRUZ has his eye on the carrot and nothing will stop him from turning his eye from his goal.

1976, choosing Richard Schweiker... Hope he doesn't follow all of Reagan's footsteps. After 8 years of Obama, we don't want to follow up with a new Carter.

[Cruz needs to work on his delivery.]

Delivery??? Cruz can speak for hours, give facts and figures, illustrations, family stories WITHOUT NOTES.

He is the second Great Communicator after Ronald Reagan.

What I like about Cruz is that even if the whole world tells him he has no chance, he will still fight for America—he loves it that much.

A man like that deserves to be supported.

He's got all three of those in spades.
Take a good long look at where "Establishment Republicans" ALWAYS take us.

And on another note:

Yes, and no. He speaks very well without a teleprompter but doesn't have the charm I remember from Reagan (or from Palin for that matter). He needs to put a little more warmth into his speeches.

America needs a President who loves America. Younger generations have not been taught allegiance to and love for their country. They haven’t a clue about the sacrifices given by Americans so they can enjoy the liberties that they have.

A President TED CRUZ will inspire them to do their best and stand up for American values. Cruz will promote a spirit of unity and not division.

This election is NOT about the economy, the war on women, the haves and have-nots. It is about the soul of America. This election may Amaerica’s last shot in getting it right.

That will come once Cruz gets on the campaign trail. CRUZ is accustomed to speaking above hostile people. Once he is surrounded by supporters his true personality will come out.

That is what I am hoping. His staff need to pay attention to that issue, but I expect him to handle it well. I'm not a concern troll pointing out why he's unelectable. My intent is to point out one of his few weaknesses in the hope that he will address it and blunt the liberal attacks that are certain to come from former Senator Obama, Gov. Brown, VP Biden, former SofS Clinton, Gov. Bush, Gov. Cristie, and other liberals.

The standard meme is that any conservative with a chance to win is "stupid". That's the attack they used on Palin, on Reagan, and on every conservative in between. It won't work with Cruz because of his credentials (cum laude from Princeton University, and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, rather than just passed through with an Affirmative Action diploma), and I'd like to see him quickly blunt the secondary avenues of attack.
